The Story

Brian Jones captured in the doorway of manager Andrew Loog Oldham’s office and flat, Ivor Court, in Gloucester Place, Marylebone, London. Early March of 1965 was notably cold, with Heathrow experiencing nearly 24 hours of snowfall on the 3rd and 4th. Exterior shots from this session show The Rolling Stones well-bundled for the weather. Loog Oldham would have had good reason to gather The Stones at his office for a photo shoot, especially in this weather. Therefore, this photo may coincide with the start of the group's first 1965 tour of Great Britain, which kicked off with two shows at London's Regal Theatre, Edmonton, on March 5, 1965.

While promoting their latest single, 'The Last Time,' The Rolling Stones wrapped a string of television appearances; Ready, Steady, Go!, The Eamonn Andrews Show, and Top of the Pops, as well as a session for the BBC radio program Top Gear on March 4.

Ivor Court has many connections to the mid-'60s British Pop scene. In addition to Andrew Loog Oldham, Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp, managers of The Who, held offices in Ivor Court. Charlie and Shirley Watts would soon become residents, as would Roger Daltrey and Donovan.
