BBC Lime Grove Studios, Studio G, West London
BBC1 Top of the Pops – broadcast live, 7:30 -8:00pm
The Story
Dave Davies, the raving kid-brother of The Kinks, returns to Top of the Pops to debut his latest solo-single release, ‘Susannah’s Still Alive,’ the follow-up to his surprise summer hit, ‘Death Of A Clown.’ While ‘Death Of A Clown’ effortlessly climbed to #3 in the UK charts, ‘Susannah’s Still Alive’ will be a relative disappointment, only reaching #20. The single should have scored higher if for no other reason than the visual merits of Dave’s classic 1958 Gibson Flying V.
Also appearing in-studio on this week’s Top of the Pops!: Petula Clark, Traffic, Des O'Connor, and The Scaffold.
