The Story
All four Beatles report to the tiny Chiswick hamlet of Strand-on-the-Green for location work as filming on HELP! continues outside the usual studio confines at Twickenham.
The Beatles spend the morning shooting the sequence preceding the one where Ringo becomes trapped in a cellar with a man-eating tiger. After walking along the narrow Post Office Alley out onto the Thames River towpath, the four encounter a marching band of baddies disguised as Scottish pipers who quickly give chase. Fearing for their lives, our heroes seek shelter inside the City Barge public house, where Ringo soon finds himself face-to-face with a hungry Bengal after an unpleasant experience with a trapdoor.
Surrounded, John, Paul, and George make a dramatic escape by crashing through the pub's windows, knocking over patio furniture, and taking out a straggling bogus Scotsman in the process. After returning to the towpath, our print series begins where the three Beatles frantically plead with Superintendent Gluck of Scotland Yard (Patrick Cargill) and his men to follow them back to the City Barge, where Ringo is held captive.
