ITV's Ready Steady Go! - broadcast live, 6:05-7:00pm

The Story

Some of the fans awaiting The Beatles are held back by a cordon of police outside Television House, Associated-Rediffusion Studios, Kingsway, London on March 20, 1964. Rain kept crowds to a minimum throughout the day and sent many home early. Still, by the time of the Fab Four’s arrival, a crowd estimated at over 200 remained on hand braving the elements.

Ready Steady Go! was broadcast live from Studio Nine, within Television House’s basement, marking its debut on August 9, 1963, and running to March 26, 1965, before production was moved to Rediffusion’s larger Studio One in Wembley on April 2, 1965.
