The image documents an early appearance of George Harrison’s iconic Rickenbacker 360/12 twelve-string electric guitar, which had recently been presented to him in New York on February 8, before The Beatles'’ debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. This broadcast marked just the second time Harrison publicly performed with the guitar.
