The Story

The camera finds Brian Jones during the taping of ABC’s Lucky Stars Special. Jones’s excesses were becoming a problem for his bandmates even during this early stage of The Stones’ career. At the close of the recent North American Tour, Jones had missed four of the final five concert dates (Milwaukee, Fort Wayne, Dayton, and Louisville) due to bronchitis and exhaustion.

"He was certainly ill all right, but he didn't do anything to help himself; he aggravated it by taking too much of something and generally behaved very stupidly. I tell you what; he nearly got hoofed out there and then. He hadn’t really contributed anything on those record dates. He was either stoned or pissed or just sick, and they got fed up with him." - Ian Stewart

Also appearing on this special edition of Thank Your Lucky Stars: Sandie Shaw, Clinton Ford, Herman's Hermits, Mark Wynter, Petula Clark, Janice Nicholls
